Biology ka sabse interesting aur thoda confusing unit hai Animal Kingdom 🐒. Isme organisms ko classify kiya gaya hai based on levels of organisation, symmetry, coelom, segmentation & notochord. NEET mein is chapter se har saal 3–4 questions aate hi aate hain.

🔹 Levels of Classification

1. Porifera (Sponges)

Cellular level of organisation.

Pores all over body (Ostia).

Skeleton: Spicules / Spongin.

Example: Sycon, Spongilla.



2. Cnidaria (Coelenterata)

Tissue level.

Stinging cells (Cnidoblasts) present.

Polyp & medusa forms.

Example: Hydra, Jellyfish, Sea anemone.



3. Platyhelminthes (Flatworms)

Acoelomate, bilateral symmetry.

Many are parasites.

Example: Planaria, Taenia (Tapeworm).



4. Aschelminthes (Roundworms)

Pseudocoelomate.

Body unsegmented, cylindrical.

Example: Ascaris (roundworm).

🔹 Higher Invertebrates

5. Annelida

True coelom (coelomate).

Metameric segmentation.

Closed circulatory system.

Example: Earthworm, Leech.



6. Arthropoda (Largest Phylum)

Chitinous exoskeleton, jointed appendages.

Open circulatory system.

Examples: Prawn, Cockroach, Butterfly.



7. Mollusca

Soft body, calcareous shell.

Kidney-like organ → Nephridia.

Example: Octopus, Pila (Apple snail).



8. Echinodermata

Marine, spiny-skinned.

Water vascular system + tube feet.

Radial symmetry (adult).

Example: Starfish, Sea urchin.

Main feature = Notochord present (at least in embryo).

Pharyngeal gill slits + dorsal nerve cord.


1. Pisces (Fishes) – Shark, Rohu.


2. Amphibia – Moist skin, both land & water life. Frog, Salamander.


3. Reptilia – Dry scaly skin, cold-blooded. Lizard, Snake, Crocodile.


4. Aves (Birds) – Feathers + hollow bones. Pigeon, Crow.


5. Mammalia – Mammary glands, hair, warm-blooded. Man, Cow, Whale.
